TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MAY 6, 2025 IN THE COUNTY OF MUSKEGON, STATE OF MICHIGAN
NOTICE is hereby given that any qualified elector of the County of Muskegon who is not already registered, may register to vote in the MICHIGAN SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, MAY 6, 2025 at the office of the City or Township Clerk; office of the Secretary of State or at the office of a designated State Agency during their regular business hours. Registration forms can be obtained at www.mi.gov/vote and mailed to the Township or City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.
The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, April 21, 2025.
After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at their Township or City Clerk’s office during regular business hours, special pre-election weekend hours, or on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., as follows:

The following proposals will appear on the ballot at the Tuesday, May 6, 2025 election:
COUNTYWIDE
COUNTY OF MUSKEGON
MUSEUM MILLAGE PROPOSAL
Shall the County of Muskegon, Michigan, be authorized to levy annually an amount not to exceed .31 mill ($0.31 on each $1,000 of taxable value), which is a new additional millage, against all taxable property within Muskegon County for a period of twenty (20) years, 2025 to 2044, inclusive, for the purpose of constructing new museum space, renovating the existing museum, updating exhibits and purchasing furniture, fixtures and equipment for the Muskegon Museum of History & Science, which is part of the Lakeshore Museum Center, and any other museum purpose authorized by law? The estimate of the revenue Muskegon County will collect if the millage is approved and levied in the first year (2025) is approximately $1,900,000. By law, a portion of the millage may be subject to capture by brownfield redevelopment authorities and those authorities governed by the Decodified Tax Increment Financing Act, 2018 PA 57, including downtown development authorities and local finance development authorities in the County of Muskegon.

MUSKEGON CHARTER TOWNSHIP
PUBLIC SAFETY (POLICE & FIRE)
Shall the Charter Township of Muskegon cease the collection of the expired 2.6802 mills ($2.68 per $1,000 of taxable value) public safety millage, and replace it with a new increased millage of up to 5.25 mills ($5.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of ten (10) years, 2025 through 2034 inclusive, to fund the operation and maintenance of police, fire, and other public safety services within the Township; and such new millage shall increase the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within Muskegon Charter Township imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution; and if this millage is approved and levied in its entirety, the Township would collect an estimated $2,736,000 in the first year of such levy?
MUSKEGON CHARTER TOWNSHIP
STREET LIGHTING
Shall the previously approved voted increase in the tax limitation under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Muskegon Charter Township be renewed at up to .70 mills ($.070 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for a period of five (5) years, 2025 through 2029 inclusive, for the purpose of the upgrade and operation of Street Lighting; and if this millage is approved and levied in its entirety, the Township would collect an estimated $365,000 in the first year of such levy?
